About 4 weeks ago, (actually I know the exact date and time - 13th April 2009, approx. 10:00pm), Jesus set me free from the things that have held me back from true relationship with Him.
I am a new creation.
Thinking about what this means is massively helpful, not to mention unbelievably exciting. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come". I'm going to type that out again and then whoop loudly and obnoxiously. THE OLD HAS GONE, THE NEW HAS COME!!!
Being a new creation means redemption and restoration in Christ. Basically, restored to the fullness of relationship with the slate wiped clean. That means NO ties to the past, NO barriers to relationship, NO bias to past failings, sins and ungodly behaviours, NO guilt, NO fear and NO CONDEMNATION! There is no reason why I should do any less than act pursue righteousness and holiness in all that I do. I've nothing to stop me. He that is in me is GREATER than he who is in the world. The same power that CONQUERED THE GRAVE LIVES IN ME!
So it doesn't matter that I'm born inherently sinful into a broken world, I have the power and strength of God by the Holy Spirit in me so that I may ACTIVELY SEEK TO BE HOLY as GOD IS HOLY. Which I will do all my days.
So here I go.
